OUR STORY

We were finally able to get some land and live our dreams. We pracitce natural farming and a natural way of rasing animals, in adequately sized pens. Pigs/sheep are let out to graze on a roational grazing pattern. 

Chickens have heated quarters to go to when cold. They have access to go outside in protected runs during decent weather- or always typically during the day. Free range isnt possible for all birds due to eagles, hawks, foxes, coyotes, and lose dogs. Although some birds may be free range and given high perches or roosts to use at night out of the weather, away from the main barn (as we will quickly have many chickens soon and simply run out of room in the main barn). All chickens get regular feed but i also gather and add organic peas, organic greens, organic oats, and organic wheat to add to their feed to make them as healthy as possible. I want quality birds, which i believe need quality feed to attain their best selves.

Pigs also recieve regular feed, but they also recieve some organic feed as well including vegtables. They are also allowed to pasture graze, and have freedom from being stuck in a tiny pen their whole life. The mental health of all animals is very important. Animals need freedom and enrichemnt to keep there minds busy. Pigs also have supplemental warmth during cold weather - heat lamps- during colder weather and the have insulated indoor buildings they stay in during extra cold weather.

We needed fresh meat that was naturally raised, and also properly killed and stored. So we wanted our own farm ro get meat that was fresh and quickly stored properly, to help prevent illness (which i often get from store bought meat).

A lot of store bought meat, especially beef and pork (i dont think chicken) has added MSG or "natural flavors." I had started to have serious reactions, due to my nerve condition. Making my own fresh red meat that was natural and fresh without added chemicals was impairative to my health. Also, i needed to make my own meat, because the buthcer was not cheap but also gave me reactions due to histamine (old and or aged meat). My intestines also needed fresh clean natural meat. That is what we make here. 

Also i dont need to be afraid of chicken or egg shortages in the food chains, and there is always shortages and incertainty. I wanted to know id always have enough fresh clean food.
